Born on 8.12.1992 in St. Veit in the county of Salzburg, flying has always been one of Mario’s great passions.
Already as a child he built numerous glider models and when he finds time for it, he still enjoys flying with various model planes. To intensify the fascination of flying even more, he successfully completed his training as a private pilot in the summer of 2022. It was probably also this urge to fly that motivated Mario to start his career as a ski jumper: Mario is considered one of the best jumpers in the Nordic combined field.
Since 2003 he has been competing internationally for the Austrian Ski Federation (Ö SV). And this extremely successfully,, especially in the seasons 2017 – 2019, before he was abruptly stopped by a training accident with a rupture of the ACL and had to take a competition break for the whole 2019/2020 season.
This with very good results, especially in the seasons 2017 – 2019, before he was abruptly stopped by a training accident with a rupture of the ACL and had to take a competition break for the whole 2019/2020 season.
It is all the more impressive that in his comeback season he once again with the Austrian team he won the bronze medal again at the at the World Championships in Oberstdorf.
In addition to targeted training in jumping and cross-country skiing, Mario is engaged in photography, is enthusiastic about travelling and has discovered his love for coffee in recent years. In his own four walls he has set up a home barista station with his own mill and sieve carrier machine. Together with his beverage partner Segafredo, he is currently working on an own roasting and he is tinkering with the ideal roast for sports and is practising latte art, drawing snowflakes in anticipation of the winter or even drawing heart for his girlfriend Victoria into his Flat Whites.
Sustainability is also an important topic for him besides sports: alternative energies, ecological use of resources and a healthy smart lifestyle are essential for him.
You can believe Mario when he quotes Elon Musk, who says “People should always strive to fulfill their passion. That makes us happier than anything else.” This passion continues to drive him to push himself, to work on himself and to complete the many hours on the road bike, cross-country skis or during weight training with a smile typical of him.
